With the state capital towering over the city, Bismark stands as the economic hub of southern North Dakota. Its rejuvenated downtown area is surrounded by older neighborhoods containing historically significant architecture and more modern high-rise structures. The north side of the city has seen much of the recent residential and commercial growth, but no matter where one lives, there are fine shopping, dining and entertainment options nearby.

It’s the largest city in North Dakota, and the main center of commerce, health care and education for the western part of the state. Historically an agriculture and railroad town, today Fargo is focusing on manufacturing, technology and medical facilities for continued economic stability. The famous Red River Valley is the home of Grand Forks, North Dakota’s third-largest city. With a memorable downtown area that includes a spectacular Town Square, this city is a bright spot in the surrounding flat landscape. A nearby air base and the presence of the University of North Dakota make this city both progressive and modern, yet it retains the core values of its agrarian roots.

This western North Dakota city once hosted explorers Lewis and Clark during their famous expedition and today welcomes visitors seeking to follow in their footsteps. Rich in historical sites that follow the famed duo, Williston is also the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The topography on this end of the state is hillier than the rest, giving the scenery a little more diversity and a lot more outdoor recreation opportunities.
